December 16th SIRDUG Meeting

SIRDUG is very pleased to announce that the next SIRDUG meeting
on December 16th, will cover Data Studio 2.2.1 IDE and Optim
Test Management. The meeting will feature two IBM speakers.
The Data Studio Presentation will cover the no-charge features of Data Studio 2.2.1. Some of
these are: simple data Administration, query tuning, visual explain access path graph, query tuner,
capture query and statistics advisor.
We were able to lower our price to $10 for the meeting and found space, so that we
can have 40 attendees.

you are not already on our distribution list and wish to be, include
your email address and phone number.
If you do not wish to continue receiving these occasional notices, please indicate that in
your registration email.
Pre-registration must be completed by Midnight, Monday, December 10th. Please
feel free to invite others from your company (just make sure
they pre-register as well). If you know others in your company who are
interested in attending future SIRDUG events, please encourage them to
become members of our distribution list (we just need their names, email
addresses and phone numbers).
Registration Note
SIRDUG will be calling or emailing a confirmation for each person who
pre-registers by the deadline. If you have pre-registered and have not
received a confirmation by the day after the deadline, please notify us as
your registration may not have been received.
If you have not pre-registered by the deadline, you may pre-register after
the deadline or register at the door, but the availability of presentation
handouts and lunch can not be guaranteed and confirmations will not be sent.
Directions to the meeting site:
The meeting is in the IBM facility Near the Macaroni Grill off WT Harris Blvd
North bound on I-77 (from the Rock Hill direction): Turn right onto I-85
North and follow next directions.
On I-85 (coming from either direction): Take exit 45B onto Harris Blvd.
West. Turn Right at 2nd stop light onto David Taylor Drive.
South bound on I-77 (from the Statesville direction) Turn left onto
Harris Blvd. East (exit 18) Go approximately 6.3 miles to the 10th
stop light (counting the one at top of I-77 ramp) Turn Left onto David Taylor Drive.

The Data Studio and the Optim Test Data Management sessions are cross platform.

Speaker Biographies
Alan Jay Spiegel
Alan is a seasoned Database IT specialist and DB2 Advisor on z/OS with over 30 years of experience in the field. He primarily acted as application and systems DBA in the health care industry supporting DB2, IDMS and Oracle. He developed company wide application databases supporting customer services, actuarial and claims processing. In addition, he also maintained and installed new releases of the database engines. During last five years, as
DB2 Advisor in the East region, he performs migration workshops on new releases of DB2 as well as provide technical assistance to both customer accounts and the pre-sales DB2 Z team.
Ernie Mancill
Ernie is an Executive IT Specialist and is a founding member of IBM’s z/Series Database Tools team, a team which assists customers in evaluating and implementing IBM’s database tools for DB2. Ernie specializes in Data Governance and Security on DB2 and IMS on System z. He has a specific focus on Auditing, Data Privacy, and Data Encryption technology. Prior to joining IBM in 1999, Ernie worked as a DB2 and CICS Systems Programmer and has over 35 years of IT experience in many different capacities and in a variety of different industries.
Ernie is a Certified DB2 for z/OS V9 Database Administrator, and has presented at IDUG, the DB2 Information-On-Demand Conference, SHARE, and at local DB2 user groups throughout the Americas. Ernie has co-authored three IBM Redbooks, “A Deep Blue View of DB2 Performance – IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS”, “Keeping Your Data in its Place with
DB2 Data Archive Expert”, and “Securing and Auditing Data on DB2 for z/OS”.
In his spare time, Ernie is an avid saltwater fly fisherman.
